Private document intelligence

Every document your family keeps, finally searchable.

Veldrun reads the letters, bills, policies, court filings, scans and recordings your household has accumulated — then answers questions about them in plain language, citing the exact page each answer came from.

The problem

The answer is in the pile. You just can't find it.

Households don't lose documents — they lose the ability to search them. A policy signed in 2009 sits in a drawer, a settlement email sits in an archived mailbox, a scan sits in a folder named IMG_4471.jpg. When it suddenly matters, none of it is findable.

It reads everything

PDFs, scans, phone photos of paperwork, handwriting, spreadsheets, emails and audio recordings — including material no keyword search can reach today.

You ask in plain language

No folder structure to maintain, no tagging discipline to keep up. Ask the question you'd ask a person who had read every page.

Answers show their source

Every response links to the page and passage it rests on. When Veldrun can't support a claim from your documents, it says so instead of inventing one.

What makes it different

Not all documents deserve equal weight.

Ordinary search treats a forwarded email and a signed court order as equally credible. Veldrun doesn't.

Sources are weighted by what the question actually is. A physician's letter carries more weight on a medical question than a property one. A superseded 2004 form is recognised as superseded. Statute is weighted above commentary about statute — and recency matters far more in law than in grammar.

Crucially, Veldrun shows you the ranking and the reasoning behind it, so you can overrule it. A judgement you can't inspect is a judgement you can't trust.

01 Recency, weighted by domain

An outdated statute is a serious problem. An outdated grammar reference usually isn't. The decay rate differs per domain rather than applying one rule everywhere.

02 Corroboration, not just similarity

A passage that merely resembles your question isn't evidence. Veldrun checks that the cited text actually supports the claim it's attached to.

03 Opinion measured, never trusted

Commentary and opinion are indexed and searchable, but never treated as proof of a fact. They tell you what someone believed, not what happened.

Architecture, not policy

Your documents never reach us.

Most services ask you to trust a privacy policy — a promise not to look. Veldrun is built so the question doesn’t arise. Today the product is local-first: your documents are indexed and analysed on your own machine and are never transmitted to us at all. There is no copy on our side to read, leak, subpoena or sell.

What our servers hold

  • Your email address, for your account
  • Licence and billing status
  • Nothing else, today — managed backup is not built yet

What they never hold

  • Your documents, in readable form
  • The questions you ask
  • The answers you receive
  • Your decryption keys
The trade-offs, stated plainly. Because we never hold your keys, we cannot recover your archive if you lose them — key custody is genuinely yours. Because inference runs locally, Veldrun needs a reasonably capable always-on machine (roughly 16 GB of memory); it checks your hardware and tells you before you pay. And remote access through our relay terminates TLS at the edge, so we describe it as encrypted in transit, not end-to-end. We'd rather publish the limits than let you discover them later.

Pricing

Buy it once, or have it handled.

One price per household — never per person. Storage is priced separately and only where it actually costs us money, so you're never charged for bytes that sit on your own disk.

What you can buy today. Free, the Household licence and Founders’ Lifetime are available now — everything they promise is built and shipping. Veldrun Complete is not on sale yet, because its managed backup depends on encrypted sync we haven’t finished. You can reserve the founding price and we will not charge you a penny until it exists and you choose to go ahead. We would rather hold the offer open than bill for something we cannot yet deliver.

Founding pricing and the Lifetime tier are limited to the unit counts shown. When a limit is reached the offer closes and the page is updated — remaining availability is shown at checkout.

Why Complete will be capped at 50 households. A two-business-day support promise is only worth making if it can be kept. The cap is sized to the support capacity that exists today — when capacity grows, it opens further. We'd rather limit the offer than quietly miss the response time you paid for.

Running a practice rather than a household? A Practice tier at $499/yr will cover up to three staff with separate client vaults, a commercial licence, audit export and retention controls — limited to ten practices at first. It follows Complete; ask us to be told when it opens.

Questions

Before you ask

What hardware do I actually need?

A machine that stays on, with roughly 16 GB of memory — 32 GB if your archive runs to tens of thousands of documents. Veldrun runs a hardware check before purchase and tells you plainly whether your machine will give you a good experience. It's a real requirement, and it's the direct cost of the AI running on your side rather than ours.

What happens if my subscription lapses, or Veldrun shuts down?

A Household or Lifetime licence keeps working permanently — lapsed updates never disable the software. Your documents remain in ordinary files on your own disk, readable without us. Nothing is held hostage in a proprietary store.

How do I know it isn't making answers up?

Every answer is tied to the passages it rests on, and you can open the original page in one click. Where support is weak, the answer is flagged rather than presented confidently. A separate validation suite continuously measures grounding and citation accuracy against the shipping build.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes, with an honest limit: mobile handles capture, recent items, pinned documents and remote queries while your home machine is awake. It is a companion to the archive, not a second copy of it — and we'd rather say so now than have you discover it after paying.

Is my data used to train models?

No. There is no mechanism by which it could be: inference happens on your hardware, and content that reaches our infrastructure is encrypted with keys we don't hold.
